Personally, I have had some really positive experiences with psychologists. It can be hard on you mentally and emotionally, just hard in general. But, after the hard stuff is over, it is all worth the outcome.

I saw one for a few months for anxiety. They help if you need to vent information or something, but for me, I'm really not sure how much they helped. But, they helped me to help myself. For me, after a while, the woman who I was seeing said she didn't really feel like she was helping me. She recommended a psychiatrist.. no matter how many times we call the psychiatrist's office, someone only ever answered the phone once. It's like nobody's there, haha. Really though, I recommend a psychologist if you're willing to spend the money. It's like.. just talking to any random person, they'll ask you some questions, blahblahblah.
.. And for the two people below me, psychologists can't prescribe meds, lol.

I went to psychologists AND psychiatrists (there is a difference) for seven years. It was pointless. All they did was tell me things that I already knew and dope me up on pills that didn't do anything but make me an angry person 24/7. I went from being someone who had mood swings like everyone else and an adolescent (which tends to elevate the mood swings part) to becoming a constant rage machine. They didn't help me with anything. They ended up accusing me of being homosexual and when I told them I wasn't (I'm not, but I have nothing agianst gays or lesbians, some of my best friends are gay) they then tried to convince me that I was. Finally, when I tried to leave they grabbed me and when I broke free they leaned agianst and locked the door, yelling at me to stop lying to myself. Yup, Never been back agian and I don't intend to. Cheers.

I have and never will again. The one that I saw was a wacko. She sent me to a councilor, and the lady tried to say that i was gay. I went back to the psychologist and she put me on 4 different medications! Then a week later i found out that she made my grandma's friend overdose and die on medication. For some people it helps, and for other like me, it doesn't

In all honesty...it was HELL. I have been to family therapy and just really therapy and I don't think they are worth the time. I sat in an office for an hour with a lady to just sit there and listen, not give me any advise and then ask me to write a check for $75.00. Yes, I got out a lot of stuff that I couldn't get out to my freinds or family, but I had no guidence. So...I would probally never go another one again.

well my psychologist is amazing! He is very concentrated on getting me better, I go see him once a week and he took me on for free because of the certain issues I had! (which is very rare) I feel like I am a new person! but it doesnt matter what their degree says it has to be someone you trust and can open up to!

I have had some of the best psychiatric help in my area and have nothing but good to say about the experience. However, I went in with a positive attitude about seeking help and I had no trouble opening up. In other words, its as good as you make it. No one can help you unless you let them..
