to put it simple, they overcharged me. I was on vacation and my phone bill was 90$ for 2 months (I wasn't even in my home during that time, asked themto send me phone logs twice, they didn't, I cancelled the account) This was in sept 2006, now I saw it show up on my collections, showing up as 4 inquiries!! destorying my credit score!. Now the home loan I had has been cancelled, and I can't cloose till my credit score goes back up!, Closing date was last wk!. This inquirey just showed up this month!. So I called verizon and they said pay 108$ and we will send a request to remove it as soon as we are paid. I did at a checks cashing place, and they will recieve it either fri or mon. I called on fri, they said give us the confrmation # that you paid on your receipt, so I did. The guy said they will recieve it on monday. He also said he wasn't going to remove it from the credit report, only going to changed the status to PAID!!!!. HOW can this be, I was told that it was going to be removeD!

They said it takes 48 hours to remove the inquirey from your report. It was once bill with 3 INQUIRES!!. 3x the damage to credit score. Now what do I do, they took my money too! 108$ v.s original $90, and they are saying that there not gong to remove it. While the other person said they were? what do I do help please?

You can get a free credit report each year......get it and have it marked as " Consumer Disputes This Amount "

Companies will tell you anything in order to get you to pay them.
They should have never told you that they can remove things from your credit report. That just doesn't happen.
The only time things are actually removed is when someone's identity is stolen and the consumer proves that they did not open the accounts or in case of fathers and sons, a Jr. is mixed up with a Sr. and it appears on the wrong report, etc.
Since this collection was on your report, the best that can happen is that it will be reported as paid. All negative information stays on your report for seven years no matter what. This will have to run its course before it disappears. Same thing with the inquiries. They stay on your report for two years and cannot be removed.

You can request the Credit Bureau this is listed on (Trans Union, Equifax, etc) to investigate the derogatory statement on your report and then it becomes up to the vendor (Verizon) to verify it as a valid charge. If they can't validate, the bureau should drop it. Also, consumer protection laws require that the bureau respond to your request for investigation within "reasonable amount of time", which translates to 30 days from the date of your request.

If they don't, continue to ask Verizon to remove it until they do and explain to your mortgage lender the situation. Most lenders take exceptions into account and don't base their decisions solely on credit scores.

Third, you have a right as a consumer to place a "dispute statement" on your credit report stating that you are disputing a particular item on your credit report.

Word of advice, when you requesting an investigation into your disputed item, do not use the credit bureau's automated dispute form. Write a letter with your information (confirming your ID [include a copy of a utility bill]) and information pertaining to the account in dispute.

go to equifax.com sign up for score watch and you can dispute it on there and they take it off for you I have done it good luck
