To those who think or guess that Royal Navy marines where in Iraqi waters:
"Iraq’s military commander of the country’s territorial waters, Brig. Gen. Hakim Jassim, told Associated Press Television News that Iraqi fishermen had reported the British boats were “in an area that is out of Iraqi control.”

"Brig. Gen. Hakim Jassim, the commander of Iraq's territorial waters, said that Iraqi officials are questioning why a group of British troops were patrolling along Iranian waterways.Speaking Saturday in an exclusive interview with the Al Alam news network, the Iraqi commander also confirmed that the British servicemen were detained in waters which were out of Iraqi control.
He said that no reports have been issued by Iraqi forces indicating Iranian naval troops ever entered into Iraqi territorial waters"

Last I heard, Britain denied that they were in Iranian territory, and that it was a "mistake" on the part of the Iranians - though I'm inclined to think it was a display of aggression disguised as a mistake.

The Iranians are getting one step closer to provoking the West into kicking their a_s. The Middle East is not content to screw up themselves, they want to taunt the West. They will pay the price soon. Radical Islam is getting closer to a nasty showdown and Middle Eastern nations have a choice to make that will affect the region for generations to come.

Kinda makes you wonder about Irans policy on illegal immigrants doesn't it? I wonder if Iran will offer to house them, pay for their medical insurance, send their kids to school, give them a credit card, set them free if they promise to appear in front of their version of the INS, maybe create a labor sharing policy for them, and finally offer them some sort of amnesty.

They weren't! The place where they were arrested is a very narrow part of the Gulf. The British conduct smuggling inspections there all the time.

Read ALL of the news,,, they were not in Iranian waters.

Sir Alan told BBC News that tracking systems then had proven that the servicemen had been in Iraqi waters.

"They can do lots of smokescreens and things like that but I am absolutely clear in my mind it would have been in our waters," he said.

Supposedly it was disputed territory. Who knows. I do remember this very thing happening before, yes. I scratch my head at this stuff often these days.
