Depends on how many players you have in the group...

If it is a single player, it would usually take me about 2 hours.
A pair would take me about 2-21/2 hours.
And a group of 4 would take 3-4 hours...

But that is being a casual game....

I have played a pair round of golf in about 1 hour....

The average golf round in Southern California at a public course is typically 4.5 to 5 hours. Weekends are longer, early midweek faster. Private clubs usually are around 3-4 hours because the players are usually a little better, and they don't cram everyone out there as fast as they can like at a public course.

Depends on the lenght of the course. If there are a few par 5's and you play a foursome give yourself 41/2 to 5 hours due to a 9'th hole break for restrooms and snack. (assuming carts are being used) walking can take longer.) Courses that you can buy beer on the course from the cart kids can take evenlonger.

I can walk, with my 80 year old mother, in three and one half hours. She will shoot about 120. I can play a five-some, walking, in three and one half hours in my regular group. Watching us, you'd never get the impression that we were hurrying. We walk up to our ball and hit it when it is our turn. We'll even stop and all attempt an interesting putt or sand shot now and then. Good clubs don't tolerate slow play. They'll send a marshall out and correct things. My son and I, both tournament golfers, can play 18 on foot in less than three hours every time.

very important to know what day and time of day youre playing...if its the weekend the course is packed and youre in the second hour of tee times you can expect to play from 4 to 6 hours...if you play like my guys and I do, we play on Thursday or Monday and Tuesday most weeks and play first off the tee...so we get 18 in somewhere between 2 and 3 and a half hours...standard times are figured on a foursome playing a hole at about a 15 minute pace and reflects that in carts with a gps and information center in them...

My father and I on a good with no slowpokes did a full 18 holes in about an hour and a half. We also did rather well that day. Usually slowpokes ahead and our own lowsey abilities (forcing us to take more shots than necessary) make the day go longer.

Too damned long. Way too much protocol in amateur golf. When you get to your ball, hit it. You don't have to wait for the camera men and galleries to quiet down. We're out there for a good time, not a long time.
