No...NEVER!
Start looking for a new camera, because electronics and water just don't mix. (if it has been immersed for a long time, such as in a washing machine, there will be no way you could save it).

the wash cycle..i doubt it..mine got a little water dribbled onto it and it was toasted

take the battery out and let it dry for about a week. then put the battery back in and see if it shorted anything permanently. if it doesn't work, return it.
