My daughter was being bullied when in 2nd grade by another girl for weeks and I did not know. When it slipped out in a conversation, we immediately told the teacher and principal for them to handle their end.

But more importantly I had to stress to my child that firstly, she should have come to us. 2ndly, that she should not have, and does not have to put up with being pushed around and shoved and threatened. I told her the only reason this other girl did this is because my daughter let her get away with it.
My daughter is on the quiet shy side and so I told her, if something like this happens again, she needs to stand up for herself! If someone comes to her and lays a hand on her she turns and yells at this person "EXCUSE ME!!! You are NOT to touch me ever again!". I think the shock factor alone will be a deterent.

She has not had a problem since.

E-mail your kid's teacher and have him/her deal with it and/or go to the principal if it continues. If that fails you can go to the Board of Education. If all else fails, you can sue the school for allowing bullying to erupt b/c they'd be breaking the law by not providing a safe learning environment.

i'll have to agree with all the other answers get your child some self-defense classes(this also help builds their confidence) and go to the school board if the principle doesn't do anything if that doesn't work maybe an out of district transfer would help...also have you tried talking to the parents of the bullies sometimes the parents have know idea what's going on.

The principal answer is good, but help this child to stand on his or her own. This is easier said than done, but it's important to let them experience life...good or bad and get through the situation.

This doesn't mean totally ignore this, but stay in the loop, talk about it and possible solutions. Back in the day it may mean taking an as* kicking, but usually if you stand up to them they'll either fight or quit and there is usually only 1 fight.
