Without knowing how tall you are, it's hard to say if you need to diet or lose weight.
Stomach crunches can "help" to flatten your stomach, but they're certainly not the entire answer.
You need to understand that your stomach will never be flat until you lose weight in all areas. Maintaining a toned middle means developing good eating habits for life, stop crash dieting, exercise regularly and have tons of patience. Crunches alone will never get the job done.
Walk / jog / exercise... for 30 minutes at least 3 times per week to boost your metabolism in order to burn fat.
Eat a small handful of almonds (at least 6) every morning. Almonds are one of the healthiest snacks you can eat and the protein is good for burning fat.
Buy a Pilates DVD and do the exercises at least 2-3 times per week. Pilates works on toning your entire body with concentration on your middle section and will improve your flexibility.
Add fiber to your diet and cut down your intake of the bad stuff. Foods such as white bread, pastas, potatoes, and white rice should be limited. Eat brown rice and whole wheat bread instead. To get the fiber you need, increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables (especially the leafy green ones).
Drink skim milk instead of whole milk. Keep your dairy intake at a minimum because these products often cause bloating and gas which can give you a rounded tummy.
Perform proper crunches at least 3 times a week to train your abs. Avoid sit-ups because they really do very little to firm your stomach. Sit-ups work your hip flexors more than anything else - and they can make you more limber, but won't do much to flatten your tummy.
I hope this helps..... Good luck !!

Here are some easy steps to follow:
1. Keep ur abs (abdominals) contracted all the time: the first step to flatter abdominals is making sure ur abs are contracted all the time, during any workout, that means keeping ur tummy in as far as possible, and this can protect ur back too.
2. Exercise ur deepest internal muscle for 1 minute every day: The muscle u really need to hit when u're exercising is the transverse abdominis, it runs horizontally right across ur abdomen. What u need to do in this exercise is lying face down, rest on ur forearms and lift ur body off the floor, so that u're balancing only on your forearms and tiptoes. Make sure here that ur head, neck, back, bottom and hips are in a straight line. Aim here to build up to one minute a day.
3. Follow a healthy diet: well u can start slowly by decreasing the amount of unhealthy food u eat 'till none, then start with healthy foods rich in nutriments.
4. Do an aerobic activity 3 times a week for 20 to 30 minutes: If u can't do 20 min, begin with a less amount and gradually work up to more exercises and more time 'till u reach 20 min.
5. And last but not least ... Do an Abs workout plan, including Ab Crunches, Leg Lifts ... at least 3 times a week.

There is an awesome supplement called CLA it targets your brown fat store like you stomach if you stack this with a product called thermoignite which has ephedrine in it you will definately see a difference. This along with exercise should help you lose that little bit of weight. I struggled with this same problem and then I learned about these products. What ephedrine does is boost your metabolism and curbs your appetite. This stacked with CLA will give you an excellent turn out. You can buy both these products and also get free workouts for your abs at this website. www.muscleinfusion.com
