You may have an issues as currently in the US the time to get a passport is around 10 weeks. There has been a back up due to the high demand on applications due to the new travel regulations. You can track the progress of your passport here:

Hope you get it in time and have a great trip!

I'm not sure- that seems like you are cutting it pretty close. Right now, they are so swamped with passport applications that it is taking a really long time. If I were you, I would pay the extra fee for the expedited service- even that is taking a few weeks longer than normal! We did my son's application Feb. 15 and it just now is being processed. So, its up to you. Go to travel.state.gov. and you can read up on the passport delays.

It took mine 7 weeks to get to me back in the fall and my boyfriend renewed his and got it back in 5 weeks. So whatever they told you when you ordered it will be pretty accurate.
