You should call your cell provider for the most accurate answer. Only they can tell you what's covered and what's not.

I'm with Cingluar and have nationwide long distance. I can make calls from HI without roaming charges with the plan I'm on. I'm going to be taking a cruise in Sept to Alaska and I'll be calling to find out what my coverage is while on that trip.

If your plan doesn't cover calls from Hawaii, then you may want to purchase a pre paid phone or a pre paid phone card to use while there.

It depends on which cellular carrier and plan that you're on. IF you have a national plan (such as Verizon's national calling plan), there shouldn't be any roaming charges (as Hawaii is a US state). However, you should call your cell provider before you leave just to make sure.

Since Honolulu is classified as a major city, the majority of the major carriers are covered in the islands

Being in Hawaii will not cause roaming charges, but the calling plan you signed up for will.

Review what you signed up for. Where is "home" and where do you incur roaming. Heck you might incur roaming changes waiting for a flight at LAX or SFO! Call your cell phone service!

It will depend on your carrier, their coverage in Hawaii and your plan. You should check with your phone carrier and tell them specifically where you will be in Hawaii. There are many isolated places where there may be no coverage at all or coverage from a competitor.

Good luck!

Mine did, but I always call the customer support team and ask them before I leave for anywhere to make sure, they might be able to better help you.
