Because its an interesting subject. We all love food, especially good food. It keeps the world alive. Lets get a bite to eat. Meet me at lunchtime? What would you like for your tea, darling? Where shall we dine out? etc, etc, etc. When we eat out with our friends, it helps us to relax and take a load of things off our minds. I'll meet you for a coffee and a bite to eat, What time shall we say!!
Tip: eat a good breakfast, you won't feel so hungry during the day.
Breakfast: feast like a king. Lunch: dine like a queen. Dinner: eat like a pauper. (never eat too late)

because we all LOVE food...and we want to torture those that are hungry, including ourselves...lol.
and, more importantly, because we need food to survive. Might as well have fun preparing it and eating it, right?
