Well Chocolat was just on TV again, a great film. Got me thinking about chocolate :-) So how does one make a really great cup of hot chocolate, i'm sure there's more to it than just the powered crap i get from the local shop.

Whats the traditional way of making it? Do you use real chocolate melted down?

#1 Be sure to cook it for about 6 to 8 mins when making your own .... it tastes better that way (ie when heating it, don't just pour hot milk into the cocoa powder and sugar lll vanilla or whatever you use ..... put it into the top of a double boiler that already has boiling water in the bottom, and let it heat for 6 - 8 mins ..)

#2 - either Kahlua or some strong coffee ...or brandy .... and use some real cream ...

The best hot choc I have had I made as follows:
Get a huge, huge mug and fill it until it's an inch & 1/2 from top with half cream and half milk. Bung that in a saucepan to heat up. When it's nice and hot, break in a large bar of galaxy chocolate into it and melt it into the milk / cream. Pour into the mug and then top with squirty cream and crumbled up flake. Then sit and watch your fav movie! Very rich but so yummy!

i also watched the film my missus made me watch it lol. i also looked for hot choco and found this one to be the best

Ingredients

Your favourite good quality Chocolate.(Bourneville dark chocolate works very well)
Milk (full fat is best)
Sugar to taste
Whipped cream
Cocoa powder to dust
Steps

Gather ingredients
Break up the chocolate and melt on a low heat in a saucepan, stirring occasionally to prevent chocolate sticking to the bottom of the pot.
Meanwhile heat the milk in the microwave, but do not let it boil.
When all of the chocolate is melted,(and while on low heat still) grab your whisk and add milk little by little and whisk away.Add more milk and keep whisking until the chocolate and milk are blended.
Bring the heat up and heat to your liking. If everyone likes sugar, you may want to add it now.. and serve in big mugs with a dollop of whipped cream. Some cocoa powder dusted on top makes it look extra nice.

I've added cinnamon and nutmeg into my hot chocolate. Trust me, it tastes delicious. Very soothing, too. Adding peppermint extract or mint into it is very yummy, try it! I've also tried powdered sugar in my hot chocolate.
