We are looking for a vet that is still open. But in the mean time what can we do???
He is limping and not putting too much weight on his left leg. What can we do to alleviate the pain? Ice? How would be able to know if it is broken??? Please help

he is laying down, and the leg is not flopping, so I guess it isn't broken. It hurts like hell, he walks, but won't walk on it. Still calling doc's. they are saying upward's of $300!!!
He just tried to walk, then layed back down. I am freaking out!!!

everywhere I am calling has been closed. He is looking better, very alert. He even went for some food, and was sitting on, so it may be a bad bruise. He is laying on down again though. My hubby suggested waiting a half an hour and seeing how much better he got. While still calling doc's of course.

Ok he is looking pretty normal now. Really relaxed. He now let us
touch lightly the hurt leg and he didn't retract at all. He keeps trying to walk around, but isn't crying at all. we are going to take this one minute at all. we found a doctor, but it seems we may wait until the morning. But we are ready to RUN out the door if he isn't showing more signs of improvement or get worse.

Oh my God! I hope you haven't given the cat aspirin. DO NOT give cats any human medications ever unless directly told by your veterinarian!!!!! They do not process it and it can easily kill them.
Also, just because the cat's leg isn't flopping around doesn't mean it's not broken. It could very well have a closed fracture. I hope that you've already found an emergency vet and gotten the poor thing some help.

You do need to find a Vet but remeber cats are very tough animals. I had a cat that broke it's pelvis once. We took to the emergency Vet and were told that she needed to have surgery to put a pin in her hip to heal it. $1,000.00!!!!! We took her to another non-emergency place the next day and he said to just limit her movement (we turned a playpen upside-down) and keep her in there until she heals. She did heal on her own with some special supplements and was fine. So be careful and get a second opinion if you are told surgery in necessary. In the meantime you need to try and keep the cat from moving as much as possible. Confine him to one room and bring everything in there (his litter box, water, food and a fav blanket or pillow. Good luck

Well the higher a cat falls, the easier it is to land, but that's a bit high.
Leave the leg alone untill you get proper vet care, to check if it's broken, feel around the leg. If he yelps, then it's hurt, if you feel the bone move in seprate directions when you're feeling it, then it's probably broken.

He has either fractured or badly bruised it. No need to freak out. Just get the help for him ask when you are booking into wherever you have to take him, what is the best way of lifting him up so as not to hurt his injury or have him scratch you.

I hope you still took him to the vet. If they got hurt and it doesn't heal right you may do more damage than the fall itself.

Keep looking for a vet until you find one. It will be hard to make him stay still, but if he will stay still, you might try a cold pack.

go online and look for emergency vets in your area.
Or go to www.switchboard.com and put in what you are looking for and it will give the list of business's with phone #
NOT TRYING TO FREAK YOU OUT BUT IF THE CAT GOES TO THE BATHROOM, LOOK FOR BLOOD, LOOK FOR INTERNAL BLEEDING BY FEELING THE TORSO FOR BULGING. LOOK AT THE EYES FOR SIGNS OF DULLING.
