A lot of hairdressers have advised me not to use any of the pantene products, they've been very vauge with their answers, something to do with silicon, anyone know anything more about this?

Hi pantene is bad for you hair as it containes lots od chemicals, but as you say people who use them have healthy hair, but for one thing it gets hair dye out of your hair for sure. This is what I use to strip a colour I dont like out of my hair. My mum had found that when she dyes he hair it fades too quickly, and she uses pantene shampoo and condiditoner. So i tried it as I wanted my hair to fade to re dye it and you should off seen all the dye that come out. So i suppose if it removes hair dye then there has to be lots of chemicals in it. No one knows why its bad for you hair. But I think is something to do with wats in it that removes hair dye. I mean it can be good for the scalp can it. But be personally love Ice shine in pantene even if it does burn my scalp a little, my hair is lovely and soft.

Its also the same with head and shoulders too. But dont listen to the hairdresser as for one thing there products dont so what they are suppose to and you pay alot of money for them, and pantene does what it says and is cheaper. So wear going to use the cheaper ones arent we.

But I recommend if you have coloured hair and you want to keep it that way. Dont use pantene as you will have to dye it again in less than 6 weeks.

As for the sillicone in it I dont find it leaves any residue on my hair and My hair is in better conditioner that it has been using other peoducts.

The only shampoos that seem to leave a residue on the hair are any for anti breakage like elvive and the pantene one for breakage and I admit the hair does get brittal and break of and frazzles more with the heat. But any other one in the range dont do this only the anti breakage ones.

I do not use Pantene not because of any hairdresser's warning but because it makes me itch.
I cannot use products on my hair with protein for some reason.
What may be bad for me could be good to others who gets no reaction to the products.
However, if the majority of hairdressers say that Pantene products are no good, they can't be all wrong.

I was advised the same thing from my new hairdresser, the only reason i got from her was that the shampoo and conditioner has a higher level of alcohol and some other stuff that can damage hair in the long run, but I think it's just another way to get people to buy the expensive salon stuff (j/k).

My hairdresser gave me a bottle of Pantene to use, and I actually asked another hairdresser for her opinon on it (because I've been hearing that Pantene products are bad for you as well) and she told me that she, her daughters, and her mother had been using them for years and they had very healthy hair. So, speaking from experience, I really don't think you've got much to worry about.

The only reason they tell you not to use Pantene products or any product they do not sell is the reason. They want to sell you expensive salon products. Pantene works great and I think the silicone gives gleam and shine to your hair, as well as protection from the sun and using blowdryers.

Yes, the problem hairdressers have with Panteene is that is is far cheaper and just as good as the high priced stuff they want you to buy from them. Don't fall for it. Save yourself some bucks and still have great looking hair. Buy the Pantene.

Pantene has the highest amount of silicone in it. This is like plastic and coats hair with a waxy layer. It makes your hair dry as it suffocates the hair. The more you use it, the more buildup you get on your hair.

You apply heat, and it fries your hair as it heats.

To be fair most shop bought shampoos have silicone in!!

Oh, ive herd alot about Pantene products. Yes apparently they dont contain very much of a clensing product. They coat your hair in this Silicon stuff rather than clenising it. Sorry dont know much more about it but i would avoid.

First of all, hairdressers want you to buy the salon products they sell. Pantene is ok for me for a few days but it sorta builds up on your hair and starts to weigh it down, I find. Better brands are Ojon and Frederic Fekkai, both of which you can find on sephora.com.
