You can download spyware scans from the internet that are free. One being a program called Ad aware.com.. But be very careful in which programs that you do find because there is one out there called spydawn. it is a fraudulent site that will install a trojen into your computer. it is a very bad virus.
if you are running vista, then just make sure that the program that you find, is vista compatible or you may find you have even more problems then you want.

Windows doesn't tell you things like that. That's an adware or spyware or virus trying to trick you to click on it. Don't fall for those! Get AdAware and SpyBot from cnet.com and run them regularly to clean the junk out.

get a spyware remover like ad-aware and spybot and don't forget you need a good firewall...i got Norton firewall, it works great for me
