Wear your most comfortable shoes/sneakers. Don't wear tight clothing - not because you want to dress "tastefully" but because you will be sitting in the same position in the same seat for a few hours. Tight clothing may make you perspire and stick to you; it also may cut into you. The lights go out when the show starts, so nobody can see what you're wearing. You have to keep your jacket in your lap. I put mine in a large plastic bag and store it under my seat.
Have a great time. Josh Strickland is adorable.

I would wear boots that look smart but are still durable enough for doing a lot of walking - if you have them. If not, wear sneakers and take some ballet pumps in your bag. Wear jeans with a nice going-out top and then layer a shirt and jumper (or other warm layers) over it, then a coat). NY was freezing last week because of the snow!! Then you will have warm comfortable clothes for the day and can just take off the jumper (and change shoes) for the evening.
p.s. do your hair and most of your make-up in the morning!!! and wear your jewelry for the evening as you won't see it under the other layers in the day.

Instead of carrying a lot of cash, use your Debit Card.
New York City is a "cash-eating" machine, you will run out of money before your feet hit the sidewalk!

Try to bring a nice serious dress (remember it is The theater). Now in spring you can wear spring colors, bring a trench coat (it is light) and maybe a couple of sweaters. You can wear sneakers because you need them if you are going to walk... if you need t-shirts you can buy them here at 7th ave. I know you'll have fun.
