For the last 5 or so days I have had this overwhelming urge to yawn, and breathe really deeply. I'm yawning/sighing deeply every 10 or so seconds. It's making me light headed and my chest muscles and diaphragm are so sore!! I'm also getting palpitations and pain in the sides of my neck.

I've had it many times before and it's almost always when I'm very anxious. It carries on even when I've calmed down... like I'm sure this time is due to an interview I had on Tuesday, but I made it through and I'm happy now. I don't understand! I've mentioned it to my Dad but he said it was just a nervous tick and that I'm being a hypochondriac.

Do you think it's worth seeing my doctor? I feel like I'm going nuts!!

Thank you!

Do you feel breathless - as though you can't get enough air into your lungs or is it more a feeling that you are breathing faster than normal? Any pins and needles in your hands?

With the palpitations - does your heart race? Does it beat irregularly or does it feel as though there is an extra beat? Try tapping on the table every time your heart beats to see if the rythym is regular.

It is interesting that it happens when you are stressed or anxious. It could be a mild panic attack. Worrying about things will not help so the best thing to do is go and visit your GP. He/she will be in a better position to offer help and put your mind at rest.

Good luck.

With the information you have given, I would recommend calming your body down.
One thing that should be helpful with the yawning would be controlling your breath. Do not hold it or take long breaths frequently. If you hold it at a steady smooth rate, your body would not yawn that much. You yawn when your body is in need of oxygen. Often, when you are tired, you do not breath as well and that is why one yawns when they are tired.
Also, I would recommend drinking plenty water. If your body is trying to fight off some cold or something, the water gets used much quicker making your body weak, making you tired once again. And a hot shower with steam may help you relax and your chest to get soothed.
I hope this is of some help.

I think it is worth seeing your doctor. you yawn to get more oxygen to your system and cells in your body and if you yawn that often then your body must see a need to get alot more oxygen to your cells.
