Does Jesus think he is better?

Our sins required a spotless, sinless, eternal sacrifice. We are all sinful and temporal. Only God in the flesh could offer himself as a satisfactory sacrifice. Thus God the Son became man to accomplish this. While we appreciate the sacrificial deaths of soldiers we can not put our faith in these flawed mortals for our salvation.

for multiple reasons. Did the president of the US go fight in Iraq? Did he die for the cause? Did he run into a burning building and save those people?

Jesus was the first creation he was in heaven with the Almighty God. He didn't have to come to the earth and be born as a human. At any time he could have stopped them.
He was higher than any man on the earth. what president has died for his country? Only the poor boys go to die for their country not the political leaders.
How many of the rich Islamic clerics have strapped on a bomb? None! It is the young men who are told it is the thing to do. Jesus as a leader, a messiah, and a God choose to sacrifice his life for humans. That is what made it different.
Political leaders may feel bad about the sacrifices their country men make but feel it is their duty to die for their country. But their arrogance and opulant life style is not hampered. Only those of the poor masses suffer.
(Colossians 1:15-17) . . .5 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,

Jesus *knows* he is better!

Jesus Christ was the one person on the face of the Earth, who had never sinned. NEVER. He did not inheirit a sin nature from a biological father, for He never had one.

Jesus was/is the promised Messiah, that God foretold and sent to the people of the Earth through the Jewish nation. He came with the explicit mission of providing an atoning sacrifice for the sins of humanity. He came, He lived, He was sacrificed, and He rose again from the grave. The job is done!

This is not to diminish the bravery or sacrifice many of our young soldiers have made on various battlefronts, or firemen have made running into burning buildings. Bravery is bravery, and sacrifice is sacrifice. However, the soldier sacrifices himself to save a handful of refugees or some of his friends, and a fireman runs into a building to save a few people. Both are recognized as heroes! Jesus' sacrifice was done to save a PLANETFUL of people, most of whom would not appreciate it!

Would a US Marine throw himself on a grenade to save the life of the Taliban soldier who had just pulled the pin, and thrown it?

Jesus' sacrifice is like that: He gave Himself even when we were His enemies, in the hope that we would come to our senses later. That is why His sacrifice is better.

It has nothing to do with being better, it has more to do with why did they sacrifice their life. Jesus's sole purpose in life was to minister God's word to his people (us), prove he was the Son of God through his miracles, and to lay down his life by dieing an agonizing death on the cross so that everyone would be pure in God's eyes if they only believed and were baptized. I don't think a soldier or a firemen willingly sacrifices their life. They give up their life because of some unfortunate circumstance. Soldiers and Firemen are heroes, but are not a Savior.

If Jesus' death were simply a tragic event that ended the life of an ordinary man, then you would be right—it wouldn't make much difference to us today.

But what if Jesus was more than a mere man? What if He was actually who the Bible says He is—the divine Son of God, sent from heaven to save us from our sins? What if His death wasn't simply a tragic accident but part of God's eternal plan to make possible our salvation? I think you'd agree that that would make all the difference.

And that is exactly what happened when Jesus died on the cross. Yes, from a human point of view Jesus' death was simply another tragedy—but from God's point of view it accomplished far more than we could ever imagine. The Bible puts it this way: "This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge" (Acts 2:23). In God's plan, by His death on the cross Jesus became the full and final sacrifice for our sins.

Just as the men who signed our nation's Declaration of Independence over 200 years ago accomplished something that is still with us, so—in a far greater way—what Jesus did on the cross 2,000 years ago is still with us. Why did He die? He died because God loves us and He wants us to spend eternity with Him in heaven. Don't turn away from Him, but by faith ask Christ to come into your life today—and He will.

More to the point, what are you trying to prove? Spoiling for a fight with Jesus, eh? Jesus doesn't have ego problems, only people do. Any sacrifice for another human being is a Christ-like thing to do. It is a godly thing to do. Get off the soap box, Jesus isn't your problem. But you do have them.

Maybe you should ask him! Most people love our soldiers, fire/police and many other people who "risked" their lives to help others. However, Jesus knew what was going to happen to him all along. He still did not fight it, and in fact, asked Father God to forgive those that hated him while being tortured to death on the cross. Do you know anyone that has done that? He loved them in all of that and so much more. You should read the bible and ask for God to forgive you and reveal himself to you now before it is too late. Best regards.

The people don't ask anything in return. Jesus want you to kiss his butt like he is the cure for cancer and you are one. No thanx. I have much more respect for these mortal man then a all powerful god. Who kills himself for a second to comeback so he can use emotional blackmail on the rest of us.
