JESUS H. CHRIST!!!! is the subject of this article. The author David Van Biema... suggests not only that it is ok to teach the bible in public school but that it is constitutional and that the Bible is the bedrock of western society!!! Anyways, I am tolerant of Christians (meaning I don't run around and tell them what apprehensive unprovable nonsensical and dismal beliefs they have) I am tired of hearing people tell me that Christianity built western society. It helped take land from other Western societies but didn't do anything to build it. If you think capitalism is built on christianity you are wrong. I think it might be a better world if it were...anyways I am not writing this for answers, I am just writing to get out the anger that every parent whose kid has come home and told them that their teacher told him about jesus today. If we don't want our children to learn your beliefs than they don't have to, and if we don't want ourtax dollarstogotowardsthatcraptheydonthave to

for the person who said that evolution was a religion, you are totally confused what the definition of religion is. A religion is supposed to be a way to live your life, I don't liken my life to my walk with the monkey or ape or any other hairy mammal to my walk in life. The bible is philosophy of how you should live your life. In other words why are we putting this in the hands of the public schools? Especially if I don't want it there. If you give an inch they will take a meter. I am not an athiest by the way simply someone who believes all Americans have the right to choose what religion they or their children want. If you think that these classes will be electives in the bible belt you are wrong. Thanks and again glad you all ally yourselves strongly with one faith or another or none. That is atleast respectable.

The TIME article is titled "The Case for Teaching The Bible", worth reading and decide for yourself.

Wikipedia notes that Western culture was influenced by 3 main things: 'The origins of Western culture are often referred to as "three pillars": ancient Greece (concretely Greek philosophy), the Roman Empire (specifically Roman law), and Catholic and Protestant Christianity.'

Somebody mentioned that to me awhile ago and I plainly said Washington was your first president, and well he basically used the Book (Bible) to maintain the country. "It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible."-G.W. Now after this was established, then he signed that "Well, not ALL of us believe in God" treaty or whatever its called. Andrew Jackson said it the best; "That book, sir, is the rock on which our republic rests." And lastly Sir Issac Newton said: "There are sure marks of authenticity in the Bible than in any profane history."

The supreme court has ruled that if a public school decides to teach the Bible or creation, they have that right. The law says you can not "force" a school to teach either creation or evolution. I do agree with you about your tax dollars. I can sympathize with you not wanting your money spent of Jesus. Can you agree with me not wanting your religion (evolution ) taught to my children with my tax dollars.
I say we just close the public schools.

An ATHEIST is nothing more than a naysayer. You never do anything by naysaying or pissing and moaning. Just thought you should know.
