I watched a documentry on it. They did studies and proved that the factories that recycle paper and plastic cause a lot of air pollution and then the trucks they use to ship the recycled goods everywhere cause even MORE pollution. In the end the only product that is WORTH recycling is aluminum. My question is............ what do we do? Fill up the landfills or pollute the air we breath?

I quite agree they are hypocritical, profit loving people. It is time they handed the profits back to the public before they are shamed into it. I want to breathe clean air.

Recycling is just the first stop on the environmental preservation highway. But like a highway you need speed limits (regulations if you will) and those limits need to be set so that industry does not create more harm than it is trying to fix. Emissions need to be controlled, Power usage needs to be from a renewable source where possible and the waste stream needs to be free of hazardous chemicals and other toxins that could, can and do harm people, plants, & animals (the whole earth.) Basicly it's no longer a matter of being "less bad" it is a matter of being all good. If you have doubts read the book "Cradle to Cradle" you'll understand.

Well, we logically should recycle and take steps to decrease air pollution, since recycling is already reducing flow to landfills. By using cleaner fuels and better air filtration at recycling plants, we can work on the air issue, but we have limited landfill space.

no longer something is ideal in this international. Recycling is an business technique, and any business technique motives some pollutants. Howver, the quantity of pollutants brought about is frequently under while products are made from uncooked factors. "Recycle" is regularly paired with the words "decrease" and "reuse", and those do no longer produce pollutants. while waste is prevented, there is not any pollutants.

lets think we can pollute the air with trucks that deliver recycled paper or we can pollute the air with macheines that cut, debark, cut into pieces, cut into paper, and transport logs to turn into paper, and while we're at it we can cut down the forests too!

Hi i think recycling is still the best.only that the emmission of dangerious particles should be checked.talking about other ways No.for instance it takes tens of years for polytene to decompose in sea water and hundred years for other matals to decompose.in other words burying may take more time and landmass.
