Not a muslim... but, just like Christians, they are supposed to spread their religion to non-believers...

Economics, nothing odd about that. The problem is that so many of them take their religions with them and try to make the new place just like the old place. Just look around at the European communities in any major city. The Italians remade their neighbourhoods into little Italies, The Irish did the same, Polish same thing. Every culture does this. After 2 generations they have normally become part of the mainstream unless they have a very ethnocentric religion.

I think this has two reasons
first: the purpose of travelling to a non-Muslim country may be to inform people there about the message of prophet and to advocate the people to Islam this is a very good thing to do as a Muslim is to spread your religion
second : they may travel under certain circumstances that is out of their control like ,work requirements or political problems in their native countries so they try to live in this new society without giving up their religion and most of them suceed to do this .... and after that they may play the role of preacher and ambassador of islam in this foreign country
also I don't think that anyone can make such free decision of leaving his home land without a good reason of what mentioned above

Why would anyone want to leave a lovely nation that has an Islamic government? Why wouldn't anyone want to live in a nation that will cut off your hand if you steal or worse yet if you ever question Islam or Allah? The Ford Foundation is already trying to figure out how to get Islamic blasphemy laws embedded or translated into the US Constitution. It's not working so well...stupid feedom of speech thing, you know.

There are three answers I am aware of:
1: They want to make enough money to retire comfortably back home. This is true of some friends of mine who are Pakistani.
2: They hate their own oppressive nation and want to find one where they can live in freedom. This is true of some other Muslims I know.
3: They want to kill people who do not believe the same way they do. This is true of a minority of weirdos from every race, religion and ethnicity.
These are the most common reasons I know about.

Opportunity. Mostly economic. Also, before going, we hear that the west will allow us to practice our religion as long as we do not hurt anyone. In America this is more less true.
In some other countries we ate not allowed to dress like we want, or pray in public. Its a shock and we feel crammed against the wall.

It's for economic reasons. Muslims aren't moving to non-Muslim countries, poor people are moving to rich countries. That's all it is.

i don't believe that any country is living out the true sharia (islamic law).
If there was then women in the middle east (not all of the middle east) would be oppressed.
it is a very sad situation.

Heck... I would, wouldn't you? But it seems your "so many" is either a crock, or unsubstantiated... this came up yesterday:
Cite, please on your "so many people"? Your text makes me believe you're asking *solely* out of bias and similar...
At a website for this info, there was a paltry 4.6 screens-worth of people, from the '70s to 2007. "so many"? Pffffft.
What is that, sumptin' like 4 or 5 people/year? Just a SWAG.
And that's *world-wide!*... This short and revealing list is at: http://www.apostatesofislam.com/apostate...

Anyone who says there isn't a war of civilizations going on is fooling himself. The US invades the Mid East to bring our culture (and to some extent, our relgion) to them. Mid-Easterners move to the West to do the same.
Mostly though, those Mid-Easterners just want what the West has, opportunity.
