Because young girls like you put "sluttyish" pics and put that they're 18 when they're like 12. Not saying you put those kinds of pics btw.

It's good that your mom doesnt want you to have a myspace, especially if you are 13.

There are some bad people in this world, and especially on myspace that would love to take advantage of a young 13 year old, your mother is just thinking of your safety. Not even to mention about all those slutty girls that put half naked pics of themselves and lie about their age.

I'm a mom, and I have a Myspace account. I have 2 boys that are way too young for them, but I do have a 10 yo stepdaughter. My stepdaughter lives with us full time. She's not at the age that she can have one due to the TOS, but as long as she makes her page private, I will have no problem with her having one. I think your parents are scared of the predators like the other people have said. It's a scary world right now, nothing like the world we grew up in.
Try talking to your parents, and show them that your page is private....that may make them see that you are mature enough to have one.

Dude.. Simple... she's your mom .. she worries..

Honestly, there's allot of weird/ very bad stuff happening out there.. to name it will take hours, but i'm sure anyone who "lost" the remote and watched an episode of Oprah, while eatin a bucket of chicken wings, will agree, the internet isn't all "Disney" ..

Basically with myspace you're inviting people into your life.. and you're going to trade ideas and put yourself out there.. your family has a certain Value set that they stick to... face it not everyone you're gonna meet is gonna have the same values.. or even be a good guy or have good intentions for that matter..

Your mom's just afraid of not bein able to protect you from the crazy crap happenin out there, and doesn't want you to be exposed to the potential dangers of something like Myspace.

Best you can do is talk openly with her, involve her with your internet "life", show her your space, keep it above board. she might set down a few rules on how she'd like you to use it at first, but over time with her seeing how you do things responsibly she'll ease up.. you'll see..

Just don't ever meet anyone in person that you meet on myspace. Only talk to people you know. If you do this, you are more responsible than she thinks and deserve the freedom to have a myspace account. If you DO talk to people you don't know or meet someone in real life, you are nowhere NEAR responsible enough to keep yourself out of myspace-related trouble, she was right, and you shouldn't be allowed on the computer. NEVER EVER EVER EVER post your personal info like where you go to school, your address, phone number, etc. Girls your age are HUNTED by people that will rape and murder you if they find a way to. Be smarter than them.

Moms hate myspace because there are sexual preditors just looking all over myspace for young kids to victimiz. I use myspace and have no problems But I know not to talk to strangers and not to put where I live ect.
I'm an adult (actually a mom but my kids aren't teenagers) but I think its okay for kids to use myspace if they go online w/ their parents to go over the rules what you can and can't say and what to do if someone you don't know contacts you.

ok, i'm 13 and my mom said i could have one. but.....it's like, set on private so i have to accept them as a friend for them to mail me, and look at my myspace. and for them to ask me to be my friend, they have to know my email or last name, which i used a fake last name, so only people i know can have anything to do with my myspace, because i have to tell them the last name. but.....parents just hear to much on the news about kids getting picked up by some old guy, and stuff....which just happened on my street the other day to a 5th grader. and parents just care i guess. my mom and her friend have a myspace, which they can check mine from, so they know mine's ok....or a little ok, lol, but yeah....so....my little sis, 10 years old even has a myspace, and so....yeah....sry though!

yeah, my mom also doesn't let me have one but i have one anyways. ever since the whole thing about some girl running away to meet a guy she met on myspace. but now, 14 and 15 year olds have their profiles on private. convince your mom that there's a lot of security settings to help make your profile invisible to anyone besides your friends.

and you have to be 14 to get one, not 13.

I'm a Mom who doesn't like myspace, so I read all the kids entires and if I'm offended by one, I'll talk to my kid about it. Why don't I like it....kids are extremely rude, disrespectful and plain stupid when communicating on this....and I don't want my kids behaving that way. As long as the communication is acceptable, I will allow them to have an account.

I think that moms don't like myspace because it could be dangerous. It also takes up a lot of time when you should be studying. But especially for girls, you have to be extra careful not to give away too much information! But don't worry my mom dosen't let me have on e either!! i secretly havce on too!! SSSSHHHH....

Not all moms are against myspace. I have one and so does my kids. Maybe u should show your mom that your profile can be set to private and let her see it can be safe. Be open though because sneaking will make it worse. Good luck. :)
