Did one animal out smart you ? Or did you get lucky. Any cool stories?
My luckiest was an ermine. I had a cubby set with a 3 30 conibear baited with a grouse carcase, targeting a lynx. For two weeks an ermine was going in and out and eating on it. Finally, the ermine got gready and took the grouse out with him. the grouse set off and was caught by the conibear, and the ermine was hit by the trap jaw going by him. It killed him but didn't catch him. He was laying outside the cuby dead with a grouse caught in my trap.
All most sounds like Asope made it up.

Well, it was supposed to be an oportunity for some good, true, funny stories, but I guess some people will bash anything they don't understand or appreciate. Oh well

I have trapped furbearers in years past but recently I trap feral hogs because the wild boar meat market is booming. I have caught deer in these traps by mistake and it is no fun at all. The most memorable though ( maybe not wierd ) is a huge wild boar that was in a live trap one morning. I walked over from the house and he is in there going nuts. As I am walking up to tie the door shut he bangs hard against the cage and I can see the door bouncing open just a bit. It is held shut by a bungee cord and can only open inward. Just as I get almost to him he banged that cage and the door opened just a bit, He hooked it with his nose and pulled it open. Here he came at me with those razor sharp, two inch tusks and I am only about 20 feet away and nowhere to go. I just stood there and as he ran up all I could think to do was an old deal my grandpa recommended for bear. I reached down his throat and yanked him inside out and his hair tickled him to death!
Really, I stood there frozen, knowing I was about to be maimed and at the last second he turned and ran past me and away. I have never been so drawn up in my whole life. You couldn't have driven a toothpick up my behind with a sledge hammer.

There was this one time many years ago. I was sitting outside behind a tavern around 9:00pm in the summer.
I baited my trap in the hopes of snagging a one-of-a-kind animal (very hard to do in my part of the country). I did seem to snare an unusual animal for this part of the state; however, had to let it go since the owner came out and demanded it back.

An Armadillo, a weird shell-bearing, hairy ancient mammal which I safely released in the woods. It was raiding a friend's veggie garden, but until I trapped it we didn't have a clue as to what it was.

I set some live traps in my garden last summer to catch the rabbits that were eating my tomatos, I set the rabbits free in the farmers field near my house, I accidentally caught a blackbird, man he went nuts in that trap, squacking and hollering and banging his head trying to get out, he actually bloodied himself before i set him free.

Very cute! I believe in you, you could write and produce your own scary movies, that is if you could get a little more weird.
The weirdest animal I have ever trapped by my standards was man.

Thought that I had something unique the day I got a two-faced politician. Then I was told they all come that way.
