If someone is too nosy, I just ask them why they want to know. Some are so busy trying to come up with an appropriate response that they forget the question. If someone does give a response, I just say "that's nice, thank you for your concern", and change the subject without answering the question.

It goes against my nature to lie and say that I cannot remember something about myself.

If you really don't want to share Mr/Ms. "nice." Just give them the ol' "I can't remember, but I'll tell you when I do."

Everything else is a double edged sword. As you can see from the posters above and below, "be firm" not very nice thing to do, or the roll the eyes and "change the subject" not very nice either. You're stuck in a delicate web.

hard to know what your talking about. as a nice person you will do things for people, and people will take advantage until you stop. just stop doing it, if they are offended, let them be. did they do anything nice for you?

if they are prying into your personal life, unless you want them to know, tell them to go away. it's none of their business.

Just be yourself. Don't change for people. But be firm, and do not take any crap!
