I ask this because in a way I feel like it is playing God. I mean, if it was something that God approved of, why would a person have to match a specific type of organ to fit them, and even then they have to be on drugs to make sure their body doesn't reject the organ. I guess you could argue that if organ transplant is wrong, then all of medicine would have to be and I don't believe that. I think perhaps though that there is a line and along with cloning, maybe organ transplants cross it. What's your opinion?

God allows us to learn things when we are ready to accept the information and use it wisely, let's hope that is always so. But he also taught us to share what we have with others, especially those who have not. And why in the world should we not share our own bodies, IF that act of sharing will give life or longer life, or a better life to another human being? Christ himself offered up his entire body in sacrifice for us.
As far as organ rejection is concerned. Each human being has their own blood type, their own tissue type. It is pretty unique. But the miracle, and it is a miracle here, is that we have learned to use medicine to help one body accept the organs of another body. Life is precious, helping someone live better or longer is good thing to do. Organ transplant and donation is the ultimate act of sharing. It is a beautiful gift and a worthwhile sacrifice for our fellow human beings.
From personal experience, believe me, it's worth it.

I find nothing in the Bible that would prevent you from being an organ donor. In fact, doing this could be an important way to help someone facing a serious medical condition. Although you would never meet that person in this life, think of what your donation could mean to them. At least it could give that person a better quality of life—and in some instances could even mean the difference between life and death. The Bible says, "Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people" (Galatians 6:10).
Above all, remember that organ transplants may delay death for a time—but Christ offers us "an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you" (1 Peter 1:4). Is your faith and hope in Him?

How many times have I debated this with you? Will we forever hold completely different opinions on this matter? Well, I have read all of thes interesting responses, I love the one that says you sound like a Jehova's Witness...cause you are totally far from that. Okay well let me see if I can maybe use an example for why I find NOTHING wrong with organ donation. ( I wouldn't be a registered donor if I really found it to be wrong according to my religion which also happens to be yours!)
Okay...did God not create woman (Eve) from one of Adam's ribs?? There you go! God, through Adam, donated Eve Adam's rib so that she could live...or be created. So, is this really playing God?? Not to mention all the medications we take on a day to day basis. We take medicine for migranes, depression, muscle spasms, ear infections, and additional infections and problems. If you think donating organs or blood is "playing God" then why is it okay for us to take additional medicines?
Also, isn't it true that everything here on earth is just material things we don't get to take to Heaven with us? Isn't everything we have a gift from God? So if it was from God to begin with, how is it playing God?
I understand where you come from...If it's God's will then he will make us better. What if his will is to donate our organs, to help save other peoples lives. I really totally disagree with you on this one sweetie, but you already know that.
Has anyone convinced you yet?? Or will I still have to debate this topic with you??? Ha ha! Talk to you later.

I used to be against it as a Christian until I heard a program one night on WFRN Christian radio about this subject on Dr. Dobson show. He is all for it especially if it is to prolong life. I now put the donor emblem on my driver's license. They also talked about how some countries I do not remember which one do take it for granted to kill others to get a organ I do not believe in that but if it is the right time like an accident victim and cannot be save I am all for it. I know of a gal in my church that had kidney failure come to find out one of her sons had a perfect match so he donated one of his kidneys she lived for a many years after the ordeal. My husbands a nurse and I do know that there is wonderful Christian doctors and nurses. Doctors who specializes in these areas I am all for it.
I hope this helps:
God Bless

Before the dead gets buried, they remove the organs. So i guess that rather than being thrown away, if they can save a life when one is lost, I'm for it. Cloning no, transplants yes.

God gave man (the race of man) the intelligence to do the transplants...as long as technology and science are not used for evil but good, we would be irresponsible not to use the intelligence God gave us.

If God did not want us to find ways to heal ourselves, He would not have given us the intelligence to do so.
Therefore, I am all for organ transplants.

I see no problem there. And I can hardly think God would.
Cloning though is a whole different thing and I think that is playing God.
