I would expect your husband to be to be a man and straighten out his family. If he's unwilling, you better think long and hard about being married into that family, especially with a husband who doesn't back you up.

At the end of the day, your husband chose you. If his family can't accept that then I wouldn't spend the rest of my life worrying about them. Get on with your life and be happy. If you love your husband then who needs anyone else anyway.

Keep your own council, she will eventually trip herself up and fall into a pit of trouble so deep even her clever mouth will not be able to claw her way back out of it. I was always taught "Be sure your sins will find you out" and it is so true, so just ignore her lies defend yourself if absolutely necessary, but otherwise giving her enough rope will suffice, as eventually she will go too far and end up hanging herself metaphorically of course.

Well if your married then he belongs to you. Part of the marriage is the parents giving up their child. Mention that, they signed a verbal agreement pretty much. That is why the parent walks the isle.

do nothing,
of course your husband is becoming more distant to his family, he has you now, and that is where his loyalty should lie. if his family carry on as they are, they are in danger of losing him all together. not through you, as you you say, you are not trying to cause discord, but through their own actions.
