HI in Revelation 13v1 and i saw a beast rise up out of the sea, the first beast is a political ruler The second beast is out of the earth. the second is a religious leader, the bible answears your question, in verse 18 it reads Here is wisdom let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man that man lives today?. Before the reformation if you were not of the roman catholic ,or universal church you were put to death, branded a heretic, burnt at the stake, you could not buy nor sell.
Years ago on the mitre that the pope wears, there used to be a band that read (LATEINOS),in years gone by that has been removed. The official name of the popes is Vicar of the son of god (Vicarius Filii Dei) The hebrew word for power is (Romiith )

666 is the number of a man. The little horn power speaks like a man. The little horn power rises as pagan Roman empire fades away. This little horn uproots three other horns. Horns represent countries. The little horn power has a deadly wound that is healed. After that all the world worships this little horn power. The little horn power tries to change God's times and laws. This power is destroyed in the end by Christ. When you look at history and the clues above along with a number of other clues you find that the Pope and the Catholic church fits these clues better than any other theories advanced. The Catholic church has a different set of 10 commandments that doesn't have the second commandment against worshiping idols. They move the fourth to the third and split the 10th. They have changed the day that most Christians worship God on from the 7th day of the week to the 1st day of the week. (Keep in mind that day started at sundown in the Bible.) Today most people of the world are tending to gravitate to the pope.

my dad is a pastor and i could dig up the refernces but it would take too long (im not making a joke outta this either) okay 666 is the mark of the beast, the beast being the antichrist, the antichrist is someone who has exceptional power over people and unites them into one world order, 666 will be marked onto people who follow the antichrist, my dad believes that you won't be able to do ANYTHING if you don't have this mark and you will probably be killed. (like grocery shopping, going to the movies, driveing, anything public) I really don't know specifically what it means, other than it defines you as one of the antichrists followers.

Ahhh, Revelations, one of the hardest books in any of the Scriptures to understand. Okay, this is hard, but there are many worlds, and many people, and each person was given a number, 1, 2, 3, ect... just for the Lord to keep account and he knows every man, and theyre number. The beast discribed in this Chapter, i belive, is Satan, so he might be saying that Satans number, the one given to him, is 666.

It is a numeric code which in hebrew letters would come out to spell "Neron Kaiser." This seems most likely because other manuscripts also have 616 instead of 666 and thus would spell "Nero Kaiser." Revelation depicts a persecution, and Nero persecuted Christians.

Really, scripture itself doesn't give anyone the key to understanding what this means. Any interpretation is going to be extrabiblical.

Spiritually, I think it refers to the number of the AntiChrist, which for me is basically all that is against Christ, including our sins.

13 vs 18? Those are some pretty mean odds. I think Revelation 13 will lose when they're versus Revelation 18. 5 person different. Same town, different football team.

666 is a mistranslation, by the way. It's 616.

666 was actually Nero's address in Rome. So when it was said that "666 is the sign of the Devil", it was a way of saying NERO was the devil (not literally, but a really evil person, who persecuted Christians).

ms. gillespi is right on. the number WILL be carved somewhere on the bodies of those who follow the antichrist and anybody who doesnt have it ( those who have come to Christ since the resurection) wont be able to do anything, so theyll either become followers of the antichrist or die. I know david jeremiah has some books on it. going to church would help too. ps im sorry about all those fruits who think theyre funny by being stupid
