Toastmasters International is a public speaking organization that helps members develop their public speaking skills. Speaking extemporaneously is a type of speech you will learn to give along with getting wonderful support and materials. These clubs have helped many people develop their self-confidence in public speaking arenas.

If you can speak extemporaneously in a normal conversation with one other or in a small group, then you can do so with a large group.

However, if getting up in front of a large group makes you too anxious to speak extemporaneously, then you have audience fright.

What has helped me with audience fright was to look out at the audience and realize they're not paying that much attention. They don't notice when you're not as articulate as you would like to be nor as interesting. So, there really isn't that much to fear.

Once I realized the audience wasn't paying that much attention, I entered a new phase. I tried to say and do things that would excite their attention.

But one step t a time.

It's a God-given talent. Just ask Robin Williams.

Rather than learn to speak "extemporaniouly", you should practice up on learning to write.
