That is perfectly fine... take losing weight slowly, do not rush it because the weight will rush right back on. You need to cut out most sweets and fatty foods, especially eating out and fast food, and start to walk or jog or some how exercise, you may also want to use some hand weights to keep toned. Well in order to lose weight healthy you should lose no more than 2 pounds per week. You should go to the website www.sparkpeople.com
This is a free diet site where you can keep track of the foods you eat, the amount of exercise you do, and your weight. They also have message boards so you'll have constant support. Finally they give you new ideas all the time to lose weight and most of them are really fun. And they give recipes that are designed to help you lose weight.
Even if you think you wont really be into the website thing just take a look at and see what it is like. Trust me I think you will like it.

Safe amount of weight loss is 2-3 pounds per week so this is a reasonable amount of weight to lose....Since you aren't trying to blast the weight off super fast it's more likely to be fat weight rather than water weight and it's more likely to stay off. Check out mypyramid.gov. It's an awesome website that will help you how much food you should be eating to maintain the weight you are at or how much you should eat to lose weight. It also give suggestions for balanced diet and even exercise tips. Many studies have proven that using a COMBINATION of exercise and changing your eating habits result in the most fat weight loss and also result in keeping the weight off.
As far as exercising...the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) as well as American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM.org) recommend 30 min. of moderate intensity (you should be able to speak short sentences while exercising) exercise 3 times per week as a minimum for physical activity and health. More cardiovascular exercise than this has been shown to produce greater fat weight loss and improved cardiovascular fitness. So walk or jog or join an aerobics class, etc.
It is also recommended that you do some resistance training (even light weights are better than none) 2 times per week on every muscle group. This not only speeds up the weight loss but it also keeps your bones healthy and strong.

I did this about 2 years ago, and one thing I stopped eating was red meat.
Otherwise, you know to cut back, take the stairs, etc.....
Good luck.
