I upgraded windows media center to windows vista. Can I install it on my other computer? This is my other computer i'm typing on and the OS is only windows home edition. Can I upgrade this with windows media center that I used on my other computer?

Generally, no - but it depends on your license. If you bought a computer that had an OEM license for Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition on it, then no. OEM licenses apply only to specific hardware. If you purchased a full-boxed license for Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition, then yes.

Since you now have Vista on the other computer, you should legally be able to use the Media Center to upgrade the XP Home. OEM or not, it has it's own key and you paid for it. You just didn't pay for the box..like buying OEM parts. Only problem may be if it is a branded version where the manufacturer added their own configs or files. This may interfere but even on an OEM machine you should have the right to upgrade hardware!! using the OS disks.

Legally yes you can, but installing media center on another computer is not that simple. It has different hardware requirements the XP home, such as a tv tuner and a few other things. Look up the hardware requirements on microsofts web site before you try this.

What version of Vista do you have? Open the start Menu, suitable click on "pc", click "properties". The version would be indexed close to the the excellent option of the window. some variations of Vista have not got domicile windows Media center, this may be a case the place your pc would not contain it and you're thinking of a various software.

You agreed to the EULA so you hold the license to use media center on one device - the device doesn't hold the license. Same with Vista - you hold the license to use on one device not the device holding the license.
