I got a tat 2 weeks ago tomorrow, I was just wondering how long before i could go swimming after getting one done. The scab is long gone, but its still slightly ichy.

Agree with the above, but be warned that although the tat will be okay, the skin over it might still be a little sensitive. The chlorine in a hot tub or pool could irritate it a bit.

If you soak a lot and the water has more than average chlorination, I can see the itchiness getting to be annoying. Keep some moisturizer nearby in case it feels tight/itchy afterwards. A little put on mine ~2.5 weeks after inking and following a hot tubbing dealt with that fine.

I have waited as long as a month to get in a pool or hot tub just to be on the safe side. You pay alot for your ink and you don't want it to be messed up by going in a pool or hot tub!!! Two weeks it what is suggested!!

You are perfectly fine to go swimming or use a hot tub now. I have three tattoos myself. You only have to worry about getting it wet the first two or three days. Just don't itch at it. I suggest using some moisturizing lotion on your tat to keep it from irritating you. You won't cause any damage at all to your tat by getting it wet now.

Also be careful about the chlorine...my mom got a tattoo a long time ago and went into a chlorine pool shortly after and it totally stripped the color from her tattoo. But two weeks after getting it, you should be okay. Just use caution, I guess!

my tattoo artist says wait a month to get into any kind of "public" water. after it is completely healed you can take a bath but that's it until your skin has had time to completely heal.
