break the ice, think of something you have in common with him and start a conversation.
look like your usual self, don't pretend to be someone else, you are you, and if he doesn't like you for who you are, then he's not worth it.
use your body language to let him know you are interested, like don't cross your arms or don't look elsewhere when he talks to you.
and the last tip I've got it's give him a sign, let him know you are available, but not easy, for example, ask him out for the next date, ask for his phone and call him, send him a mail, asking him, if he had a good time on the date and would like to repeat the experience.

First of all it depends on how old you are! If your a teen, going to the movies is a good place to start, or going to some sort of teen hangout place like a dance or a community thing!
Say what ever comes natural to you!
And remember the word "NO" is not a bad word!
