The Myth Busters TV show tested this one on how to cool a canned drink the quickest. Crushed Ice and water with salt added will cool things the fastest, like to 38 degrees in just 6 minutes from a room temp can.

well its ice either way so its going to be the same temp...but also i dont know if you are using this in a cooler, a drink, etc...and the quanitity of ice as well?...the cubes will last longer...but the crushed ice if used ina drink would make your drink colder faster but not for as long since they will melt faster than cubes due to the size

I'm going to use logic on this one. I say the ice cube since it is larger than a crushed piece of ice. The bigger it is, the longer it takes to melt. Given the environment temp is the same for both....lol

hmmmm this is a tough one but i would think that the ice cubes would be colder because they would still be a cube rather then the crushed ice that would be a liquid.

As long as it is still ice, it is the same temperature. The crushed ice will melt faster, though, because it has a greater surface area.

ice cubes, because they have a larger surface area. crushed ice will melt very quickly because of the smaller surface area.
