The standard way is to just go to the drive manufacturer's website, go to support or downloads and download the Windows 98 driver for the device.

You could also go to DriverGuide.com to search for the driver and download it from there. It's free and has most drivers available.

It would be easier for us to help you with your problem if you provided more specific information about the HD. If you provide the manufacturer, and model, the folks here could give you an exact link to the necessary driver, most of the time.

most of hard drivers will work
and you may use a flash usb memory or usb hard disk
most of these have a cd with software to make it run with windows 98
and just for a clue why you are not using windows xp
