Driving insurance/getting pulled over- Pennsylvania?

Question

I got pulled over today for making an illegal turn somewhere I wasnt familiar with, the cop was real nice and all and I told him that I had forgoten my insurance card and handed him my registration and drivers liscence. He said he'd let me off for both because i'm a new driver and don't have much experience but I was still wondering if the cop wasn't so nice what could have happened to me if I didn't have my card on me? I do have insurance, so could they check it with their system?

In NYS they might let you go or some officers will ticket you if they've been having a bad day! However, when you go to court and bring valid proof that you actually had insurance in effect on that day most judges just toss the ticket in the can! But the law states you must carry proof so a judge having a bad day could also lower the hammer if he so chooses! I have also heard rumor that should you get caught without insurance- GOOD LUCK trying to buy insurance after the ticket!

I'm not familiar with Pennsylvania law, but probably you would have been cited for no evidence of insurance. It's like a fix-it ticket; you'd just show that you had it when you pay the ticket.

You would have had a day to go to the police station and show your card.

i had that happen to me too. only i didnt have insurance. (i did but my dad pays it and didnt tell me) but i didnt have any cards and i told him i dont have the cards cuz my dad pays my insurance. well some cops are reall a** about it. they coulda impounded your car. but they can run your plates and see if u have been picked up before for not being insured. happened ot my bf. just relax and get your cards in ur car!
