It has taken close to ten years. I take Lamictal, Geodon, Cymbalta. I wasn't feeling the greatest so my doctor added Depakote a week ago.

Did you ever consider that you don't have it?
Did you ever think that it could be all those drugs that are messing up the chemicals in your brain?

One of the reasons it can take so long is that there are always new drugs coming onto the market. My meds need to be changed when side effects appear, so it's hard to say how long it takes to get the right cocktail. I take Sreoquel (Geodon resulted in cardiac side effects), Lamictal, Lexapro, and Gabitril. I have both Klonopin and Ativan for anxiety (which I haven't needed since my meds were tweaked last time). My psychiatrist adds a second antidepressant (Effexor or Welbutrin) two weeks before daylight savings starts, then stops it at the end of February to fend off the depression I get when the time changes.
