....."middle rounds"? "late in the fight"?...are you people mad?! we are talking about the absolute two most powerful, hardest hitting, intimidating "closers" in the history of the heavyweight division. there's no way this fight goes past 5 rounds,,,and, personally, i see 3 rounds, if that! foreman later admitted that he had been intimidated by both frazier and norton, respectively, because of their punching power and physical attributes. he jumped on them early bec he knew he didn't want to go into "deep water" with them. methinks he would have done the same w/sonny, who just happened to be his idol, so liston would have had the psychological edge. foreman, personally, was a harder puncher and just a physically powerful man, given his height and freakish strength. sonny was a brute of a man and probably tougher mentally bec of the company he kept and his background(assuming this is both men in their primes - as if sonny ever really had one, eh?)

anyways, i see big george jumping on sonny from the get-go. sonny, tasting more power than he ever had before, would have swung for the fences to get foreman outta there. i see a fight that would position itself probably somewhere between foreman/lyle and hagler/hearns, with both men getting rocked and both men tasting canvas. ultimately, i see big george throwing punches so hard, he would end up knocking sonny out of the ring and out of consciousness by the end of the third round. an end to what would have been one of the top 3-4 fights of the century! big george by 3rd round kayo!

I would love to see this matchup. Both men were powerful. I'd give a slight edge to Foreman in power and chin. I don't exactly know what edge Liston would have against Foreman. This bout will not last 10 rounds.
I see Foreman taking the early rounds. Liston would score against Foreman with his powerful jab. I think the fight would be pretty even at first. Liston will take a small lead starting the middle frames, he will keep jabbing Foreman to keep him at bay. I see Foreman shaping up for the second half of the bout. I see him finding a way inside. I doubt that it will be Forman who gets all the pleasure fighting inside. I see Liston scoring himself. By the ninth round, I think Foreman would have taken charge and I see him knocking out Liston by then.

Bluedevil Liston was a pretty good boxer but is better known as a slugger. He had a powerful left jab that knocked some of his opponents down. Foreman matches Liston's intimidation factor to a tee and surpasses it. The heavyweight division today pales in comparison to the level these guys fought at. Foreman would take whatever Liston had to offer and Liston would take Foreman late into the fight but would have enough by the 11th round. Foreman by TKO.

Would of been a helluva fight. Are we talking Young George or Old George Foreman, two very different boxers there. I think Liston(around 1958-1960ish) would beat a younger George who had stamina problems. The George that fought after his first retirement I think may have found a way to beat Liston, but it would have been a war

Great match up between two of the heaviest punchers in history, both damn near even in almost all categories. Neither would have taken a backwards step, but Sonny didn't have the jab or the defensive skills of Big George. I think George would get to Liston early and often simply because of Sonny's straight ahead attempt to bully his opponents. You wouldn't be able to intimidate George, and Liston would walk into a right hand somewhere near the middle of the fight.

George Forman by KO in six.

I like that matchup. Two brawlers. I would have to go with Foreman. He hit harder than liston and I think was just a monster. I think George was definatly top 3 heavyweights ever. But this matchup would definatly be fun to watch.

I would say Foreman.
They were both great sluggers.
However, I think Foreman was stronger.
Foreman would probably win.
But one thing for sure is that it will end in KO.
