Have any Muslims out there ever beat their wife/wives? If so, why?

I'm getting a lot of personal attacks. It that a smoke screen to avoid answering truthfully?
The Quran allows men to beat their wives. I'd like to know if it's actually practiced or not.

Yahoo is weird.
I'm sure they have, just as have every religous affilliation. Generally the cause has nothing to do with religion.

Muslims do worse than that, they burn their wives alive, chop off limbs and drive them to commit suicide.
anyone who tries to deny this has no clue what goes on in the middle east at all.
