Cats (and dogs, too) are very intuitive - she can tell you're sad from your body posture, the way you move, maybe even your smell. (Some people also think they just pick up on "sad vibes".)
She's grooming (licking) you to make you feel better. In cats, grooming one another is a sign of affection and trust, and it helps the cat to relax. (Mother cats groom their young.)
She loves you and is trying to make it all better. :)

i get a newsletter from purina and just last week they talked about the intuition of animals, when thier owners are sick, out of town, sad...go to purina.com and try to find the latest article on that!

your animals will now when there's something wrong with you. every time someone in my house is sick, my cats will hang out with them all day like they're little nurses making sure you're still ok.
