All this seems to achieve is conflict between religions and people. are these various religions making up rules to suit thier supposed beliefs in the original bible to suit thier lives. As a point religion has caused conflict since man began to exist and when religion was created.

You hit the nail on the head. Each religion interprets bibles to their liking, and in some cases they simply write more "holy works" to indoctrinate their followers. I don't think we need a whole lot of interpretation to know what's "good" and what a good God would want us to do!

There is no "one authentic Bible." What you may think of as the Bible is likely a collection of ancient documents heavily edited over the past few thousand years, and brought together and translated by the priests of King James sometime in the 17th century. Other people's Bibles have similar histories. The problem is everyone insisting that their version of the Bible is the TRUTH and everyone else's is a lie. Some are willing to kill and die to make their point.

The essence of the Bible, and all morality, is The Golden Rule and this way of thinking just contradicts it.

Sometimes I think the world would be a far better place if there were no religion and no Bible, just everyone living for today.

You have to remember that the Bible is subject to personal intrepretation, you take from it what you will. Also, the Bible is really nothing more than a collection of stories told by different people at different times throughout history.
For many people, religion is personal and any infringement on that will start conflict. One religion is more pious than the other, one's God is more truthful than the other, you know what it reminds me of? Little kids in the playground shouting "my dad is bigger than your dad".
The thing that most people forget is that in every religion, and I mean every religion, the common thread is love and tolerance, but you don't see that very much at all. One can't be judgemental about another person's religion and then claim to be pious, it's ridiculous.

The world certainly needs to practice what they preach.

And for those who read this and think that I am not religious.. I am 100% Greek Orthodox.. the oldest Christian sect there is, and I am proud of it.

People interpret the Bible different ways, some even take the Bible and make their own one, For instance the Mormons, I just don't understand why people have to make up their own rules, the Bible speaks in parables, and some don't understand them so they just make a guess at it.

We had a Bible lesson about this in my youth group a few weeks ago. If people just listened to God, and prayed to him before they read his word The Bible, then they would have a better understanding. If people just listened to God there wouldn't be so many different religions.

To me, that is the best evidence for the fallibility of the bible. It claims to be god's word to man, but is so unintelligible that you have to use wild rationalization to even attempt to make it all into one cohesive body.

This is why there are so many denominations. Each Christian will tell you that the bible is truth... but will also tell you that their denomination is the REAL truth. Ask a typical Catholic if protestants are correct, and vise versa.

Doesn't exactly sound like divinely inspired to me. Unless god is schizophrenic that is.

Good question...I gave you a star for it! (I wish we could get points whenever someone "stars" one of our questions. Don't you?)

Now to my response...

Concerning those who are not Christians, Satan, the master of deception and divisiveness, clouds the thinking of all unbelievers. It takes the miracle of regeneration, wrought by the Holy Spirit of God, to open the mind of someone who does not trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins.

Even within Christendom, those who use the same Bible, and even those who use the same version (King James, New International, New American Standard, etc.) of the Bible, hold differing beliefs concerning various doctrines derived from the Scriptures. The relationship between the sovereignty of God and human responsibility, various modes of baptism, the literal vs. symbolic interpretation of Genesis chapters one to fourteen, and many other teachings of the Bible are all open to differing interpretations by Christians...even by members within the SAME church!

If everyone would just follow the Golden Rule ("Do unto others as you would have them do unto you") we would have heaven on earth.

Hope this helps!

Having a variety of different thinkings or beliefs attached to scripture(s) clearly, keeps people separated just as different languages kept people of the past from accomplishing their own plans.

its different what people get out of the bible, also it has been edited by human hands (some of it, at least).
It was created by God, but men took it and destroyed some of it.
Exsept one book, the Book of Mormon has never been touched and edited by human hands.
