2 different breed of dogs. The yellow Lab is just that a Lab. The Labs come in 3 very different colors.
Golden's Retrievers are of a longer fur type with the colors ranging from very dark almost cinnamon to almost white. Golden's have a beautiful chest feathering, leg and tail feathering. Labs have no feathering at all.
Temperment wise Golden's tend to be puppies until they are 18 months old Labs on the other hand never seem to out grow this and can be very hyper most of their lives.
Both love the water and are bred fro duck hunting and other types of hunting. They both make wonderful family dogs but the Golden's calms down to be a more peaceful family member.
I can write a book but I think you know what I mean by now, right?

They are completely different breeds, bred for the same purpose & both
excellent family pets,especially for children.
Labs are a good deal smaller.
They have different coats. The lab has a thick, mostly straight coat. The
golden retriever's coat is more curly & wavy & just as thick.
Generally speaking, there are a few differences in disposition as well.A
lab is more versatile in the field,...unless they get BORED.
Both are excellent water dogs & easily trained to retrieve.
The lab has a longer snout.A golden retrievers snout is more boxey.
Labs don't seem to have the attention span that the goldens do.
With both breeds,I'd rather work with females. They seem to be a good
deal less headstrong.
Hope this helps you out.

Golden retrievers are one of my personal favorites. The different between the two are that golden retrievers are more of a gold color. A yellow lab is a yellow color. Also golden retrievers have longer coats.

The origin, character traits, coat, color, breed. If you have ever seen either, it should be obvious. Goldens are taller and lankier and lighter on their feet. Yellow labs are stockier and shorter and have shorter fur. Goldens are their own breed, while yellow labs are one of three (some say four) colors of a totally different breed. I can't see how anyone can get these vastly different breeds confused.

Golden Retrievers are the only truely intelligent blondes. Yellow Labrador retrievers run a close second! LOL!

A golden retriver has long silky hair. The yellow lab has shorter stiffer hair, just like the black lab except for color.

I used to get stuck on that one too. Golden retrievers are long-haired. Whether this qualifies them as separate breeds from each other, I don't know,
