i'm going to a bat mitzvah, and i have this skirt that falls just above my knees, would that be appropriate for me to wear?

also, do i have to wear a different outfit for the ceremony and the evening party? if i do, what r the main rules, and owuld my skirt be appropriate? if not, where should i get a not to expensive outfit that i could wear again?
(i'm 13 and 5'9", i'm really skinny, so nothing too short)

As long as it's not more than a quarter of an inch, yes. The idea is to remember that this a religious ceremony, celebrating the girl becoming a young woman who is now capable and responsible enough to demonstrate her knowledge of the Torah and God's Laws. Bat Mitzvah means "Daughter of the Law"(meaning the Torah). Keep that in mind and you should do well and really enjoy it. It's a very nice event - and there's food afterwards!

A bat mitzvah is a serious and fun thing. You should wear something VERY dressy. As in some of your best clothes. If the skirt is made of fine material or pretty decorations then it should be just fine.

It's a religious ceremony, so you want to dress properly for temple, but it's also a party, so you want to be comfortable.
The skirt sounds just fine. I'm sure you'll look great.

cover your shoulders for the ceremony. with a sweater or shawl.
