Electronic ignition is not a necessity, but is always nice. Looking for something not too expensive, but also very reliable. Thanks!

MSR whisper light international. it burns any fuel (gas to jet fuel, tho white gas is the best) it is light, quiet, and boils water faster than most stoves. with gear you get what you pay for, but I have had mine for 8 years now, with no problems. check out sierratradingpost.com or campmore.com

I picked up a "grill" - for lack of a better term - at REI. It all breaks down and fitts into a tube 8" long and a quarter size around. I don't know that it is the best stove out there. But you don't have to pack fuel so it can be better for longer trips. Maybe I should describe it better. It has four leggs. Stands about 5" off the ground and has a grill surface of about 8" x8". If you are using freeze dried food, you can easilly boil enough water in a small camp pot. I like it brcause it is as compact and lightweight as the hi tech stoves, but it is more reliable. One possible drawback would be if your hands were cold it could be difficult to assemble. If your looking for cheap and reliable, it might be for you.

I usually pack a small amount of kindling with me for those really miserable days.

Pocket rocket. They are small and work very well. The only thing is there fuel doesn't,t work very well in "Cold" temperatures. You can find one by - Goggle Quick Search - Pocketrocker. Go down to MSR - Mountain Safety Research Stoves Pocketrocket. They cost $40 .
