Only use the canned/bottled sauce that is 100% sauce and not artificial. you don't need to drain it or add anything. Most pizza sauces are plain tomato sauce so it will come out great. I would not recommend using a pasta sauce.
or here is an easy recipe for Pizza Sauce:
INGREDIENTS
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 1/2 cups water
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
1/2 tablespoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
DIRECTIONS
Mix together the tomato paste, water, and olive oil. Mix well. Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste, oregano, basil, and rosemary. Mix well and let stand several hours to let flavors blend. No cooking necessary, just spread on dough.

Don’t mistake the purpose of this tomato sauce, or be fooled by it's glaring simplicity.
The idea is that it not compete with the cheese and toppings. Reducing the tomato sauce deepens the tomato flavor and accentuates anything you decide with which to pair it.
Ingredients
28-ounce can crushed tomatoes in puree [preferably Italian; about 3 1/2 cups]
3 tablespoons olive oil
Method
In a large non-reactive saucepan bring tomatoes and oil to a simmer and simmer,
uncovered, stirring occasionally, 20 minutes, or until sauce is reduces to about
2 1/2 cups. Season sauce with salt and cool to room temperature.
Sauce keeps, covered and chilled, 5 days.

yes but you will want to add spices and other flavorings to it. Regular, canned tomato sauce is just pureed tomatoes with maybe some salt added to make it last longer. I like to make pizza sauce with....
1 10 oz can of tomato sauce
1 4 oz can of tomato paste
1 tablespoon of good quality Italian or Pizza seasoning
1 minced clove of garlic (or less to taste)
This makes 14 oz of pizza sauce and depending on how much you want per pizza, it can cover 1-2 pizzas

You certainly can! You just need to mix herbs you like, or have on hand, into it (dried oregano, parsley, basil, mint - or a really good shake of "italian seasoning" and try a dash of Lemon Pepper) , along with salt, pepper, and a clove of crushed garlic! Much better that canned pizza sauce!

I prefer a simple sauce for pizza. Then it only compliments your toppings, not compete with them. If you are using a simple sauce, you may add roasted garlic, fresh basil, and other toppings to kick up the flavor.
