Actually, when it comes to the existence of Earth, there is no proof stating that the Earth is 6000 years old. If one is to read Genesis carefully, it mentions that the Earth was a formless wasteland. Then God began to prepare the waters, land, atmosphere clearing, and so on before he created life.
Genesis also states that he did each of these things on different days. This is not to mean literal days as how we know them. Other scriptures like to quote that a day is 1000 years long for God. Still, each God-day could have been much longer, perhaps millions of years before humans were finally created.
So, if a God-day is 1000 years each, then some people would say that it took God 6000 years just to create the world. On the 7th day, God rested. Could that have been another 1000 years? Maybe more?

Not all creationists suggest the earth is young. And on the other hand even those who believe its really old disagree within 10's and hundreds of millions of years. Doesn't sound like an exact science to be honest.

Thats a good one. You know that they have no evidence, only belief. Asking them to show their evidence is not fair of you, is it?
