It is definitely RAT poison that was on the wheat that came from China. What I would like to know is what is the matter with the wheat that comes from the USA?????? The gov. pays our farmers in this country not to raise certain things and we get this rat poison infected wheat from China. What is wrong with this picture????I think it is time that something is done about this. It's our dear pets now. When will it be us? We are having so many problems with our own food ,and we do not need this to happen to our pets!!!! Something needs to be done immediately!!!

well its not rat poison. What happened is these lower dog food companies use cheap meats that aren't made for human consumption. This means anything from feet and brain (which is stupid since thats whats in a hot dog) to road kill and animals that were too diseased and couldn't be sold for any other use. People who feed our pets healthy question why dog food companies aren't pushed to tell the truth. Why does Beneful get away with saying its full of veggies and meats when its on the bottom of the ingredients list? And my favorite questions from these poor food makers....."why is it making the animals sick?" Well I don't know but it could be all the road kill and diseased animals.....I mean thats normally what happens when you feed sick animals to other animals. They get sick! You can check out raw food sites or the sites of Healthy Pet Net or Innova. After that well reading and understanding you will see how bad these huge companies lie. In fact I found that Purina ratted themselves out! (they said bones are bad for the diet because dogs cannot get calcium from them....but they include meal.....which is a small amount of meat with bone, to add calcium, and fur/feathers)

What needs to be done is this: the corporations need to take responsibility for finding out just how the products they purchase are grown, manufactured, stored, whatever, and what their dangers are - not just be concerned with who can supply the products for the lowest price. As long as corporations are ruled by the desire to maximize profits rather than ethics, animals, and humans, will continue to suffer. Don't vilify the Chinese - it is not like they want to kill our pets! Chinese corporations, like any others, want to get the most profit from their investment and this rodenticide was likely the cheapest and most effective they had. They probably didn't even know it was dangerous. Another thing - did you know that when a chemical is banned in this or another country, the company that makes it will just sell it somewhere else where there hasn't been enough research for it to be banned yet? Yes, indeed, and good old American companies are just as guilty of this as any other. I wonder, which corporation made and sold this rat killer to the Chinese wheat producers?

A compound used as rat poison in Canada was found in the food. Aminopterin, used here as cancer drug. There is only speculation on how did it get there. Stick to dry food, or home made food until the scare ends.
