The second she scratches you, immediately stop petting her and firmly tell her "NO!" And then leave her alone. Do this every time she scratches or bites you. Be firm and consistent. This is the closest thing humans can do to replicate what a mother cat does to a kitten to punish it. Do not hit her, though, because she will fear you and get defensive, and probably continue her bad behavior. Cats are trainable, but not using the same methods as dogs. She just needs to be shown that it's not acceptable to "play" with her claws.

Aw, I'm afraid this is just the sort of cat she is! A lot of them are like it, my next-door neighbour's cat is. You just have to learn the signs from her, so you can stop before she gets you! They're temperamental and make no sense, it's why we love them.

There is one thing - if she scratches you when you're touching a certain place, like round her mouth, check there's no pain there, and then avoid that place!

It all depends on where you pet them. You cat might not like where you're petting her. Many of my cats prefer it when I only pet their heads, and they'll get me with their claws if I start going near the tail.

some cats show that they love you this way...as dumb as it sounds. but while your petting her make sure to pet his all over not just in one spot. because my cat does the same when ive been petting him on the head for to long. go figure they want us to love them and pet them but then they scratch us lol

You could be petting her in a place that bothers her. I know cats are sensitive on the bone above the tail. Ya know above the butt.

I wouldnt call it a problem, she is just being affectionate, she loves you and probably dosnt mean to scratch its just her way of showing affection towards you.
