45 ACP? No, definitely not. The 45 Colt is physically larger and bullet weights can go over 350 grains. For a long time the 44 Mag was capable of more power. Now, because of better cartridge components and a better understanding of the cartridge itself. The 45 Colt (Long Colt) can be loaded to equal an surpass the magnums performance. Look up either Linebaugh brother and read some of the stuff Elmer Kieth wrote. Hand loaded and fired from weapons like the Ruger Blackhawk, Freedom Arms revolvers or a Thompson Center single shot the 45 can send a 370gr bullet down range at 1400fps. with a little over 1000ft lb of energy. The best i could get from my reloading manuals for the 44 was a 300gr bullet at 1048fps with a little over 700 ft lbs at the muzzle. Properly loaded an with a well built MODERN handgun the 45 Colt will beat the snot out of the 44Mag. Now i will say that in factory loadings, not including Cor-Bon and Buffalo Bore the 44 is much more powerful. That is because the 45 was first built as a low pressure black powder round. Fired in the well built, well designed but weak (compared to the Blackhawk and Freedom Arms) 1873 Colt SAA revolver.

The .45 is larger in diameter than a .44. If you're referring to the .45 ACP and the .44 Remington Magnum, the .44 has a longer case. The .45 Long Colt has just as long a case as the .44 magnum though.
As far as power, the .44 magnum produces the most.

If you're going to ask this question, it would be really useful for you to tell us what 45 you're talking about. The 44 Remington Magnum cartridge has a head diameter of .457" and a minimum (trim-to) length of 1.285". Its bullet is typically .429" to .430" and the classic bullet weight is 240 grains, though weights from 180-300 are pretty common.
The 45 Colt (often called the "Long Colt") cartridge has a head diameter of .480" and length of 1.285". Its bullet is typically .451 to .454", mostly the lower end of that range, and bullet weights are the same as for the 44 Rem. Magnum.
The 45 ACP is a more compact round. Its cartridge head is .476", length .898". Its bullet is normally .451" to .452" and the classic weight is 230 grain.
There are lots of other 45 caliber rounds, as well, but those are the most popular, so I'm guessing you mean one of those.

the 45acp has a slightly larger outside diamter than the 44 mag, but the 44 mag is much longer, not quite twice as long, but close, the 45 long colt is about the same length as the 44 magnum, but has much less power(almost half as much)

No. Not a 45ACP. The .44Mag is more powerful. I believe it is also more powerful than a .45Long Colt.
EDIT: Sorry, yes physical size is larger, but not more powerful. I misread your question.
