Jesus, equal to God?

...In the New World translation, John 5:18 says this:
...On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God.
...Jesus is equal with God; that is what others translations say, too. So how can one deny the Deity of Christ?

...Thanks for your reminder; I am aware of the problems with the New World Translation (NWT). I purposely used the NWT. I never use one of those, nor do I have one, and I know it has been skewed so it agrees with JW's doctrine.

When I was a child and was getting interested in religion, my mother would tell me that Jesus is God's son, and God is the Father, and God Holy Spirit was his active force.
They were not 3 gods into 1 body but 1 God, his son Jesus, and God's will which is his Holy Spirit.
Being little, I believed my mom although she didn't go to a church or was affiliated with one at the time.
Getting older, reading the bible for myself, I had a few debates with the church Minsters, Elders, Pastors, etc over this subject and others.
When I turned 18, I was married and had the world by the tail!
Jehovah's Witnesses came, I asked them the same nagging questions I had for over 10 years, and much to my surprise, these 2 so called "uneducated in the scriptures" women answered almost all of them from the bible. They did come back with the answers to more of my questions, for which I have been grateful of ever since.

if you have 3 people in a "Smith" family.....one Smith is just as equally a Smith as the other 2. One however would be the father, one the mother and one the child. The child is still a Smith and is just as equal in that family as the other 2.

In the family of God....God the Father is over all. Jesus Christ is His Son. Jesus is deity (is in the family of God) but is God's Son. He said that God sent Him and that He always wanted to do God's will. That does not make Him not be deity. God gave all power to Jesus. Matt.28:18

I would throw away the New World Translation Bible. The Jehovahs Witnesses use that bible to disillusion everyone they try to share with. They change words, and add or take things out of the bible that they want. They make the New World Translation Bible say what they want it to say.

If Jesus was a drop in the ocean, and God was the ocean...
Jesus would be undiscernable from God...not two, not one.
That's kind of the significance of the mystery of the Trinity...all One, and each unique as well.
