Wow, that's pretty bad.
Start looking for a roommate and move out. If you stay under her roof, she'll keep trying to control you.

won't "let" a 21 year old? excuse me, she is of age and I'm pretty sure that makes her an adult. If I was 21 and my mother still ran my life, I'd move out, make my own way. You can still love and respect your mother without being tied to her apron strings.
Tell mom, "I love and respect you mother, however, I am of legal age. I'm paying for the airfare and the concert. I'm going. I will contact you when I arrive and let you know I'm ok. I will call when I start the trip home so you know when to expect me home. Oh, and would you like to go with me?"

Well look at all the factors... you're 21 yes but you still live at home, your parents probably feed you, pay rent, etc., so perhaps they don't want you spending money on a flight. Ever think of that? If you're going by yourself then it could be dangerous, are you going with a friend (if it's a guy I don't blame them). The only thing you can do is move out, unfortunately. Try to explain to them rationally but if it doesn't work there isn't much you can do.

Last I checked.. a 21 year old can in all 50 states do what they wanna do (as long as its legal)
BUT you also remember this... yer 21.. there is nothing in the law that sez mom cant kick yer A*s out on the curb either (yer an adult remember?) Its the old My House My Rules.. rule...
And I cant say I disagree with that... If you want to be independant.. get yer own place and do as you will.. as long as yer living with mommy.. well she has every right to dictate the rules.. you have a choice...
But it is kindda funny to hear a 21 YO say Mom wont let me... I gotta admit...
Maybe Take mommy to the concert with you? That might work.. (its worked before)

I don't think anyone should fly to another city for a concert--that just wasteful. But, if she normally tells you what to do (I'm assuming you live at home), I don't think there's any way you can convince her. If you could come up with some sort of argument about how you will be safe, how this trip is beneficial for you, how it advances yoru future, etc., you might be successful, but I doubt you can muster such an argument about a concert.

You are 21 years old, and thus you're a legal adult. Your mother can only control her if you give her the authority to do so. Granted, claiming your humanity will come at a cost (parental support, for instance) but if you want to be a free person, you can't blame your parents. Get a job, move out of the house, and be a grown-up.

If you are living on your own, paying all your own bills and not taking help from your mother, you don't have to have her permission. You are an adult. If, on the other hand, you still expect her to help pay your bills and you still live at home like a child, then you need to respect her because you're still letting her parent you.

You're a grown woman at this point. It's time to let go. If you want to go and have fun then do so. You're mother has to be okay with the fact that you're an adult now. If she raised you right then she shouldn't be worried. Go and have fun!!!

you could get a passport and go to India if you want to
maybe give her a choice, the concert or India
I would have done something like that when I was 17

Do you live at home? That might make this more difficult.
As long as you're paying for it all, she doesn't really have a say. Just reassure her you will be fine. Go with a friend if you can.
