all right so we already took him to the vet to get a shot and we also got him a shot to get rid of his fleas, one more problem....can a human get tapeworms from their cat!?

Yes, but don't worry, general hygiene can prevent this - just don't wipe his *** and then put your fingers in your mouth! And wear gloves to change litter trays.

Just a note - I don't know about shots for worms, but flea injections only sterilise the fleas. If fleas/worms are already present, you need a spot-on flea treatment (from a vet) to actually kill the fleas that are present. Worms can be treated and prevented with a 3-monthly tablet, or a spot-on called Stronghold (Revolution in America) though this doesn't do tapeworms admittedly.

I've heard of tapeworms coming from cows into human's digestive tract... so I suppose, yes, the tapeworm of the cat might "jump" from species as well.
